What this service is
Naples FL Mold Remediation is a free quote and referral service for homeowners, condo owners and seasonal residents in Naples, Marco Island, Golden Gate, Immokalee and the rest of Collier County. You describe the problem, such as a musty closet, spots on a bathroom ceiling, a dripping air handler or a home that sat closed up all summer, and we help you get quotes from Florida-licensed local mold professionals who serve your area.
Using the service is free and there's no obligation to hire anyone. We usually reply the same day.
What this service is not
We are not a mold assessment or mold remediation company. We don't inspect, test, assess, remove or treat mold, and we don't send crews. We aren't a licensed contractor, and we can't price your job. Any inspection, testing or remediation is done by the licensed company you choose to hire, and the actual price comes from that company, usually after an on-site look.
Why Florida licensing matters
Florida regulates mold work above a size threshold, so it pays to check before you hire.
Florida Statutes s. 468.8411 defines "mold remediation" as "the removal, cleaning, sanitizing, demolition, or other treatment, including preventive activities, of mold or mold-contaminated matter of greater than 10 square feet." The same section defines "mold assessment" as covering mold growth of greater than 10 square feet. Work at that scale calls for a state license. For smaller patches, EPA's mold guide says that "if the moldy area is less than about 10 square feet" (about a 3 ft by 3 ft patch), homeowners can usually handle the job themselves.
Florida also separates the two roles. Under s. 468.8419, a mold assessor may not perform or offer to perform remediation on a structure the assessor's company assessed within the last 12 months, and the mirror rule applies to remediators. In practice, the assessor and the remediator are typically separate companies, except Division I certified contractors, per the statute. Our mold inspection and testing page explains when an independent assessment helps. This is general information, not legal advice.
How to verify a license at MyFloridaLicense.com
Ask for the license number
Ask any mold assessor or remediator for its Florida license number and the name of the licensed individual responsible for your job. DBPR says only individuals are licensed for mold assessment and remediation, not businesses.
Search the DBPR site
Go to MyFloridaLicense.com, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation site, and search by the person's name or the license number.
Match the details
Check that the license type (mold assessor or mold remediator) fits the work being quoted, and that the name matches the person you're dealing with.
Report concerns
DBPR lets consumers report unlicensed activity at 1-866-532-1440.
Rebuild work after demolition, such as new drywall, may also need a contractor licensed under chapter 489, as s. 468.8411(5) notes. Ask each company what its quote covers.
Where we help
We focus only on Collier County: the City of Naples and nearby communities including Marco Island, Pelican Bay, Naples Park, Vineyards, Lely Resort, Golden Gate, Orangetree, Ave Maria and Immokalee. See all service areas, read our mold remediation cost guide for typical national price ranges, or learn what crews typically do in our remediation process overview.
For health questions, a doctor is the right person to ask. If you or someone in your home has symptoms you think may be related to mold, talk to your doctor.
